Great Pumpkin Run

The 2008 Great Pumpkin Run will be run on 25 October, starting and ending on Patch Barracks Husky Field. This is a great event and will be held for the fifth year. Registration will open by 1 October at all Fitness Centers and will include a t-shirt for the first 300 registrants, awards, door prizes, and post-race refreshments. Race entry fee is $12 for individuals or $30 for families. After 23 October, there is a late registration fee. Race day registration will be open from 8:00 to 9:15 am. Runners dressing up for Halloween are also eligible to win a prize for best costume!

For the second year in a row, the race will have two different courses; a 10K race division and a 5K race division. The 5K race will be hosted by ACS and will serve to publicize October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The 5K course is similar to the 10K except that you return to base on the road just before the Katzenbacher Biergarten. Unit team competition will also be offered for teams in the 10K race division. Team Captains please check with the race director at 430-5386 to fill in your team rosters.

If you are a beginning runner or have never run a 10K (6.2 miles) race before, click here for a great training schedule. We also recommend attending a free 30 minute Running Shoe Clinic given by the Patch Sports Medicine Clinic to make sure you are running correctly and with the right type of running shoes.
