Where to Eat
Basics
Restaurants and Bars - You do not get water for free, you have to pay for it. If you order water you will get carbonated water. In most restaurants you can request tap water and they may or may not charge you but it is most likely straight from the sink. In some American fast food restaurants, (i.e. McDonalds) you must pay for ketchup as well. Be aware that the menus at most fast food restaurants in Germany are not exactly the same. You may also notice that a sandwich that you recognize from back home may taste a little different or it could be smaller. When you enter a restaurant you will not be seated, just walk right in and pick the table of your choice!- the tip should be much smaller than you would give in the States. In most cases the tip is figured into the cost of the food, but in all cases the waiter/waitress gets a better base wage then the U.S. counterpart. A tip of two or three EUR would be considered a good tip for very good service.

Downtown Stuttgart
Then places to eat out..there are just millions of them in Stuttgart.
Our favourite is definitely Spaghetisssimo on Eberhard Strasse. It is like 12 Euro for a full meal and the food is great. The deserts are also amazing.
If you go to Calver Strasse there are lots of little restaurants - italian, mexican etc. There is another great Italian restaurant opposite Buchsen Strasse.
There is a great ice cream place at the bottom of Calver Strasse. Then there is a Movienpick on Schlossplatz and my favourite a Haagen Daaz cafe right beside the Stadtmitte Sbahn.
Biddy Early\'s is an irish pub on Marien Strasse. The staff are incredibly friendly. Some Erasmus students worked there also. They have live music at the weekends which can either be good or absolutely terrible. On Wednesday nights they have karoke which is good craic.
There is another irish pub called O\'Reillys in Schwabstrasse. This is much smaller but it is great for Sunday mornings to get an irish breakfast and watch the football on Sky Sports.
There are millions of other bars aswell - The Classic Rock Cafe has music on a Saturday night. Then La Funk, Switzerland, Fuse, Maria, The Travellers Club, Radio Bar, Delaylas etc etc .. there loads - the list is endless.
